Sarita Schaffer (Design '15 alumni) currently works as a Senior UX Designer at Amazon in their Elexa enabled devices division. Recently, she was featured on the Inside Amazon series. They explore her story as the founder and director of Viva Farms to her current role as a UX designer. This story highlights the interdisciplinary nature of design and how her experience as a social entrepreneur informed Sarita's understanding of meaningful user experiences. Her experiences also showcase the diverse backgrounds of SCCA students and how their design education can launch them to a meaningful career in design.

I wrote a lot of comic books. I was very involved with the Seattle comic scene. And I think that also was something, and I know a lot of cartoonists that went through the program and that really parlayed well with learning even UX like storyboarding and that type of thing, but also it's really useful to be able to visually display something. And so using those skills, using something I knew how to do.

My job title is graphic designer, or just designer. My day-to-day is actually not quite as cut and dry as you might think. I'm always working on graphic design projects, but there's the media day that we have to plan, and I help on photo shoots, and we review other work that's tied to the Kraken.
